Helping congregations, nonprofits, and community organizations understand artificial intelligence, engage their communities, and shape our shared future.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, learn, communicate, and live. It's also raising important questions about our relationships, institutions, values, and the future we're creating together.

I'm Peter Bowden. I help leaders and communities navigate these changes through meaningful conversations, educational events, customized workshops, and leadership strategy sessions.

My approach brings people together to explore what's happening, consider opportunities and challenges, and discern how to respond with intention and purpose.

We don't need to be AI experts to engage with the questions AI is raising.  

But we do need opportunities to learn, connect, think together, and help shape our shared future.

How I Support Communities

I offer a range of facilitated experiences and customized programs for communities across professions, industries, and faith traditions.   

Each offering is customized to the organization, its context and mission, and the issues of concern to staff, volunteers, members, or other stakeholders.  
 

Community Conversations & Facilitated Events

Meaningful conversations about AI and the future we're shaping.

I design and facilitate community conversations that bring people together to explore the opportunities, challenges, and questions AI raises. These aren't lectures or debates. They're engaging, structured conversations that draw on participants' experiences, concerns, hopes, and ideas.  Events can be designed for individual organizations, groups of community partners, or broader public participation.

AI Workshops & Enrichment Events

Accessible, engaging opportunities to learn about artificial intelligence and its growing impact on our lives.

From introductory AI sessions to programs exploring emerging technologies, ethical concerns, and social change, I develop customized learning experiences for communities, staff teams, leadership groups, and other audiences.

Sessions can combine accessible presentations, demonstrations, facilitated discussion, and interactive learning, tailored to participants' interests and experience.

I draw on decades of experience as both a nonprofit consultant and a STEM children's television producer & educator on multiple nationally syndicated PBS Kids shows.  The events I facilitate are described as interesting, memorable, accessible, strategic, and often fun. 

I deploy joy, curiosity, playfulness, humor, and storytelling to help people make sense of technology and challenging topics.  

Leadership Strategy & Planning Sessions

Helping leaders navigate AI-related change while staying grounded in their mission, values, and community.

I work with leadership teams to explore how AI is affecting their organizations, identify opportunities and challenges, consider appropriate uses of emerging technologies, and develop thoughtful responses.

This includes exploring how organizations can support their people, strengthen human connection, and provide meaningful leadership as AI continues to evolve.

Community Conversations on AI

An ongoing invitation to learn, explore, and think together.

I'm also hosting an ongoing series of free Community Conversations on AI via Zoom, bringing together people from across my network and different communities.

Some gatherings focus on particular issues or questions. Others are more open-ended conversations about AI developments, what we're encountering in our lives and work, and what we're wondering about.

These gatherings also serve as a conversation design lab. I'm modeling, testing, and refining approaches that congregations, nonprofits, and other groups can adapt to host meaningful AI conversations in their own communities.

My Approach: Learning and Navigating Change Together

AI raises questions that no single expert, organization, or community can answer alone.

My approach draws on decades of experience in community building, group facilitation, education, organizational development, and helping communities adapt to technological and cultural change. I also bring sustained, hands-on engagement with emerging AI systems and their implications for human life.

I believe we need more than information about artificial intelligence. We need opportunities to bring our different experiences, knowledge, and perspectives together.

The goal isn't always to reach one right answer. It's to listen, learn, make sense of what's happening, discern what matters, and strengthen our capacity to navigate change together.
