⚙️ Deeper member training in the works: As always, I use the live session to identify questions, what information is most helpful, what would help with implementation, and then roll into our monthly on-demand training! During this session, I also invited participants to share websites they are proud of and examples they've turned to for inspiration. I'm reviewing the sites shared for even more inspiration. Very excited for this one!
Have questions on this topic? Submit them by Monday via my question box form. I'll weave as many as I can into this training.

Evaluating UU Websites From a Visitor's Perspective
A.K.A. How to Adjust Your Website So More People Visit Live!
Ah, UU websites.... I have to say, I get a little animated when I talk about Unitarian Universalist websites. Especially today. They have a massive impact on how many people exploring your website online decide to visit live.
Most congregation websites were built to inform members and orient occasional visitors. That made sense when the website was a brochure people glanced at before calling the office. It doesn't make sense anymore.
The newcomer experience on your website is now their first visit. It just happens to be online and self-guided.
Today, most potential newcomers engage in a significant online research and discernment process. They are trying to answer one question from the privacy of their own screen: "Is this going to work for me?"
If your website isn't designed to help them answer that question confidently, they move on. If they don’t feel the connection, if the experience is shallow or one-sided – only about your congregation – many assume that’s what the congregation is like. They move on without experiencing a live visit.
In this session, we look at Unitarian Universalist congregational websites through the eyes of someone who doesn't know you yet. Then we discuss adjustments to help visitors build confidence, connection, and a move toward that first live visit.
