Hosting Community Conversations on
The Issues of Our Time (especially AI)
The world is moving at lightning speed due to technology. Not only is the present pace fast, but the rate of change is also accelerating thanks to AI.
People are hungry for a place to make sense of it together. You can host these conversations without outside experts, without a budget, and in a way that both supports your existing members and promotes membership development!
This live session explores a practical, low-resource model for congregations to host Community Conversations on the Issues of Our Time.
Not just any issues, but the large, complex, unresolved issues we're facing. The issues communities need to think through together.
I think it is important to highlight that we face a growing range of massive, complex, nuanced, and multifaceted issues affecting our daily lives.
We can, and I think must, engage with them as congregations. But to do so, we need an approach that's designed for engaging with big open questions. I think of this more as a practice than a program.
In this session, we covered a general event template and a draft AI Community Conversation event.
Follow-Up Training + AI Community Conversation Series
I'm using the questions and conversation from this session to refine the resources for our corresponding deeper on-demand training.
In addition to weaving the issues and questions into the follow-up training, I am also going to start hosting AI Community Conversations for my extended network.
I want to empower you to hold conversations on AI. I think the best way for me to do that is to host an ongoing AI Community Conversation series on Zoom. Then I can share insights with you.
